Sleep plays a crucial role in helping you stay healthy and have a healthy heart. According to researchers, people who sleep less than 6 hours per night have 20% higher risks of a heart attack than those who sleep 6 – 9 hours per night. Also, the ones who sleep more than 9 hours have a 34% higher risk of heart attacks

This means one should have a balanced sleep between 6 to 9 hours. According to Doctor Integralist Biprajit Parbat, each person should sleep at least 6 – 8 hours per night. Sleeping less than that can take a toll on a person’s heart. Sleeping 6–9 hours per night can reduce first heart attack risk by 18%.

Also, only having a sleep duration is not just enough; one should try to optimize sleep patterns as well. A person should have a routine, and he/she should follow it religiously. For instance, if you sleep at 10, you should try to sleep at 10 pm daily. It is imperative to have a routine and follow it to have a healthy and fit heart. Sometimes, like once or twice in a month, it’s okay to sleep late. But making sleeping late your habit is not good for your heart.
